Running back Marshawn Lynch #24 of the Seattle Seahawks somersaults in the end zone after scoring a touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons during play at CenturyLink Field on October 2, 2011 in Seattle, Washington. The Falcons won the game 30-28.

I photographed the Seattle Seahawks as they nearly beat the Atlanta Falcons. It wasn’t expected, since the Falcons had a 20-point lead at one point. The game included a Marshawn Lynch touchdown, which feature a flip in the end zone (above). Mike Williams also had a touchdown. Unforunately, an unnamed photography leaned out and block my lens during the touch, which is why the right side of the fram is a bit hazy. The Seahawks lost on the last play of the game when they came up short on a 61-yard field goal. I think I got a fairly nice picture of the dejection and celebration in the same frame. I especially like the quality of light in the Williams touchdown celebration photo. And there are photos after the break.

Kicker Steven Hauschka #4, second from left, of the Seattle Seahawks and holder Jon Ryan #9 react to missing a 61-yard late in the fourth quarter against the Atlanta Falcons at CenturyLink Field on October 2, 2011 in Seattle, Washington. The Falcons won the game 30-28. In the background Brent Grimes #20 of the Atlanta Falcons celebrates.

Wide Receiver Mike Williams #17, center, of the Seattle Seahawks is congratulated by teammates, from left, Justin Forsett #20, John Moffitt #74, Max Unger #60 and Anthony McCoy #85 during play against the Atlanta Falcons at CenturyLink Field on October 2, 2011 in Seattle, Washington. Oakland Raiders against the Seattle Seahawks at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Washington, USA, 2 September 2011.

In and effort to shake off the rust, I photographed the final preseason game between the Oakland Raiders and the Seattle Seahawks. I’m a bit happier with my effort this time ar0und.

Minnesota Vikings against the Seattle Seahawks at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Washington, USA, 19 August 2011.

I wasn’t sure that there would be a season this year, so preseason is a bit of a relief. Though thankfully it seems it was preseason for me as well as it seems I’m a bit rusty shooting football. Here are some photographs from the Seattle Seahawks preseason home opener against the Minnesota Vikings.

I covered the Civil War in Corvallis this weekend. It was exciting to be covering a team playing for a national championship berth. As always the Civil War is a good game regardless of what each team’s record is. The Ducks were just too much for Oregon State. Because of the national championship implications, the sideline was more crowded than usual. It was nice to see Kenjon Barner back on field – and returning kicks -  for the Ducks after a brutal hit during the Washington State game (Though I think he had been back a few game before that. It was first I’d seen him play). Here is a shot of Barner in action. I think he had a pair of touchdowns on the day.

I photographed my first Seahawks game Sunday. It was a great day for football brisk, but no rain though the forecast earlier in the week called for it. Unfortunately, the Seahawks were crushed 41-7. By halftime the game was over and by the fourth quarter the Giants had pulled their starters. Here are a few pictures from the game:

New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks can't hold on to a pass as he is interfered with by Seattle Seahawks cornerback Marcus Trufant during the first half of a game at Qwest Field in Seattle, Washington, USA, 7 November 2010.

I covered the Oregon Ducks against the Washington State Cougars in Pullman Saturday. WSU put up a pretty good fight for the first half of the game, but Oregon was too much. The game also featured one of the biggest collision on a kick off I’ve ever seen and heard. No, unfortunately (maybe fortunately) I did  not get a picture of Kenjon Barner getting knocked out cold. I wasn’t in the right spot for that. Though I did get a particularly telling image of LaMichael James’ reaction to his teammate’s injury. Barner stood up before leaving the field in an ambulance and played later in the season.

Here is a shot of Oregon wide receiver Jeff Maehl hurdling a defender. It seems he does that a lot.

This was one of my first games shooting with my Canon 1D Mark IV, which is a really nice camera … really nice. The file sizes are large and look really good, especially when upgrading from a 1D Mark II (I stayed away from the Mark III).
